On April 11, 2006 Clark County Sheriff's 911 Communications Operator "Vanessa Haley" was honored in Columbus, Ohio in response to her outstanding performance as an Ohio Public Safety Telecommunicator.

Vanessa Haley was nominated by Sheriff Kelly to receive the 2005 Ohio Solid Gold Award in Ohio Public Safety Telecommunications for her outstanding actions while working in the Communications Center.  A man, who could barely speak, called the 911 Communications Center on his cell phone and reported he had been shot in the face and had wondered into a farmers field.  Dispatcher Haley convinced the man to keep talking with her and keep walking until emergency personnel could find him.  At times the man could hardly talk.  He felt he was going to die but because of Dispatcher Haley actions, she continued to communicate with the man and convinced him to keep going until Sheriff's Deputies and rescue personnel could find him.

Due to 911 Communications Operator Vanessa Haley actions the gunshot victim was located and survived his wounds.  The victim identified the suspect in the shooting and an arrest  warrant was issued.
