Sheriff's Firing Range
The Clark County Sheriff's Office started planning for the range in 1997. Sergeant Bob Chadeayne was given the task of researching and coming up with design ideas for the range, by Sheriff Kelly. Construction of the range began in summer of 1999 and was opened for use in December in the same year. This five lane shooting range features state of the art ballistic rubber side panels and a rubber chip backstop that has a lifetime guarantee, and for a number of years was considered the most advanced tactical range in the United States and Canada. The range also features a computerized target retrieval system designed by Mancom, that has a 360 degree random turning radius that can be outfitted with shoot/don't shoot targets. The system also has low level light and traffic stop lighting capabilities. The range has been visited by law enforcement from all over the United States and Canada for design ideas. The total of this advanced tactical range was 320,000 dollars, the majority of which was paid by a Federal Block Grant.
